Lea's Story and The Story of Hope | Part 1

For those of you not aware of her story, Lea, a former Catholic, was saved in a local church plant in The Philippines after hearing “The Story of Hope” (the Gospel Story from Genesis to Revelation). Mitch, a member of the church invited her to attend "The Story of Hope" (TSOH) Bible teaching during Sunday School. She was excited to return to her hometown three hours away and share her faith with her devout Roman Catholic husband and mother. She was given a Bible and her own copy of “The Story of Hope." Lea even started a kid’s outreach in her hometown where she taught one “Story of Hope” lesson each Sunday. There are 40 lessons in TSOH.

Recently Lea brought her husband to visit her new friends through the church. Lea had completed her work contract with a company in Lipa City and was returning to her hometown. She wanted to thank us for telling her “The Story of Hope” and helping her come to know JESUS CHRIST as her Saviour. Her husband, Arnel, had assisted her with the music by playing the guitar in their children’s meetings. During the conversation we asked Arnel about how much he had learned from Lea as she taught TSOH and about GOD’s plan of salvation. During their visit Arnel made a faith response to trust JESUS CHRIST, as his LORD. Before they left we asked Lea about her devout Roman Catholic mother. Lea said, “My mother can’t understand why I left the Catholic faith and became a Christian. I told her that now I understand the truth from the Bible and GOD’s story of Hope for us.

A note from Missionary Steve:

After being a missionary evangelist for 35 years I believe the key word is - “understanding." "The Story of Hope" helps the listener “understand," the Gospel by telling the story from the beginning as it is woven throughout the BIBLE. Of the four different soils in Jesus’ “parable of the sower” only one reproduced; the good ground (soil). It was the only one who understood and bore fruit. “But he that received seed into good ground is he that heareth the word, and “understandeth” it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” (Mathew 13:23)

Even JESUS’ disciples did not fully understand until HE went back into the Old Testament writings of Moses and the prophets and explained the prophecy about Himself. “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures." (Luke 24:44,45)
